Problem

My stock on hand (SOH) report does not match the increase/decrease in stock value of my latest inventory report

Setup

  • Retail POS for Mac or PC

Cause

  • Sales were done during the inventory count
  • Stock movements were done during the inventory count
  • Average cost was updated during/after the inventory count

Solution

Sales were done during the inventory count

  • If you processed sales during the inventory count, each sale will decrease your SOH value

Stock movements were done during the inventory count

  • If stock orders were received/ stock returns were sent during the inventory count, each stock order will increase your SOH value and each return will decrease your SOH value

Average cost was updated during/after the inventory count

  • SOH is based on the average cost of each item. The average cost may change during the process of the count.
