Why do sales appear in the wrong register closure?

Why do sales completed in the past appear in the wrong register closure?

•  Retail POS for Mac or PC

There are a few reasons why this could happen. These include:

1. The sales are backdated to an earlier date
2. The sales had an manual payment applied to them with a different date than the sale 
3. The sales are made offline and synced in Retail POS after internet connectivity has been restored
